Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in influence within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of heroes who will split off from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might look mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, striking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then settled his debts and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and advises that it is a nasty location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their status as important members in the influential clan could enable the group reach areas they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them no alternative but to head to Timmony in quest for the traitor.
Future Episodes
Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to form the Questers and Strategists parties.
Audiences can expect finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
